Visiting Jim’s Dad

August 13, 2016 – I haven’t see my father since I went to Maui almost two years ago. Dad turned 94 on August 5th. This was the first chance we got to drive up and see him.

My brother Mark, and Dad, were to meet us for dinner near Mark’s place in Tega Cay, South Carolina.

Rock Hill was the closest motel we could find to Mark. Larra and I then went looking for a place we could meet for dinner and drinks that was as close as possible to the hotel – within walking distance. Mark doesn’t drink, so having a DD for then wasn’t an issue.

We were checked into the motel by noon, and found Wing Bonz just a quarter of a mile away. From the outside I rated it as “Three Pistols and a Dagger” – it looked pretty rough –  but we went in for lunch to check it out.

Inside it was a nice nightclub, with elaborate stage, dance floor, the works. We made friends with three of the waitresses, Cathy, Kirby and Delores, and they encouraged us to bring Dad and Mark for dinner.

When we met that evening we all had such a good time that we forgot to take even a single photo. Can you imagine that? LOL – Larra and I have taken up to 500 photos in one day during this trip, but this evening we were so involved in conversation that we didn’t think to take a single one.

So here’s a photo of Jim’s Dad at his 93rd birthday, with my sister Cheryl.

Thanks for the recognition I am not sure how I came up with the idea to get the Proclamation for Dad’s 90th Birthday present but I was so happy you Jason Devlin and Mark were there to deliver it personally. Somehow I hope he knows that it was my brain child and effort to make it happen. It was with input from you and Mom we made it accurate. Thanks for your help and contribution. I came from a mindset of “What do you get for a man that’s 90?”. Sure turned out perfect didn’t it?

Yes, sis, that was a brilliant idea, and I, for one, am super proud of you for thinking of it.

      All my Love,
      Big Brother
