Where Are We?

charlieSept. 23, 2015 – So here I sit in rainy Vancouver and Jim is in hot, sunny, walking distance to the beach Maui!     💞

Why did she not go with him, you ask?

Well there are a few reasons, but the main one is Charlie!🐾 Charlie is my twelve year old Golden Retriever. Charlie is also blind and since we returned from our trip Charlie is now banging into the walls and ending up in the wrong room . 🙃  His world has been turned upside down.

In my heart I cannot leave Charlie again. I rescued Charlie three years ago from a very bad life and he is bonded to me. Jim can’t live in Vancouver as he was already cold and it’s just September. Lol

We have agreed to spend the next couple of months in our own homes and will figure out where we go from here. Much Love to you all.   💞  🐾

Awww Lara <3 I had a 15 Year old Tiny, Tiny Chow, Chow named Molly that went Blind from Glaucoma at 13.5 years old..I could rarely go any where because I knew how hard it was on her when I left. She adapted to her blindness quicker than I thought. I moved from my bedroom to the down stairs Family room to sleep for two years just so she would know I was here and she was safe.. I know what you are going through. I lost Molly due to her heart rather suddenly as I was told the medications were harder are on heart? True or not I don't know but I do know I stayed with her until the end. Your furbaby will relax with you home now and get reoriented. It is only natural. If you can get her over to Hawaii and stay close to her she should become reoriented easily as long as your around her. Amazingly our dogs especially blind dogs are more resilient than we as people are. They just need us for re assurance. I hope for you and Jim's future and living in Maui you are able to make the move gently with you and your furbabys <3 Your all in my thoughts and Prayers for the best out come and best decision <3 It will all work out for all of you <3 God Bless you for being so devoted, that says a lot about you as a person

I feel for both of you, seems life is not always easy, but where there is a will, there is a way. Hang in there, it does get better, I promise.

My old girl is nearly blind, too, at 14. She knows the layout of the house and yard and rarely gets lost. I can’t bring myself to go on vacation until she passes, so I know what you’re going through. We made a commitment to them…..

After I got home I had a long talk with my hanai sister, Carol. Her advice was, “Larra’s a woman. Give her time.”

Carol was right; Larra’s thinking about when she can come back to Maui for a visit.

Thanks for the great advice, “Makawao Cowgirl”!
