Larra and I flew into Phoenix, rented a car, and drove down to Yuma.
On the way we passed through Gila Bend, and had a wonderful vegetarian lunch at the Space Age Restaurant, the only place we could find in town that wasn’t a fast food franchise.

While driving from Gila Bend to Yuma we saw the sun set over the desert. Beautiful. It’s hard to express how different this was from cold, gray, damp, rainy Vancouver, where we were just a few hours earlier. The miracles of modern transportation are amazing. After covering a thousand miles before lunch, in an airplane traveling 500 mph, now we were rolling across the desert at a mile a minute; just five generations ago wagon trans were doing well to cover 10 miles in a day.
Above is the solar farm mystery we passed. Rows and rows of curved mirrors, but we didn’t see any tower or other place that they would point to condense the sun they reflected. Any ideas? Let us know in the comments section, below.
