Omaha’s Art Deco Train Station

August 23, 2016 – Jim: I’m a fan of railroads, railroad stations, and art deco.

The railroad part dates back to my grandfather being a baggage handler for Railway Express Agency at Union Station, Detroit, Michigan, and from taking a number of cross-country railroad trips when I was a kid, back in the 50’s.

My appreciation of Art Deco has been with me since my college art appreciation classes.

Imagine my delight when I discovered a 1931 Art Deco railroad station in downtown Omaha! The upper floor has been fully restored to it’s heyday.
