The Ambassador Bridge from Detroit to Windsor. Taken from Old Corktown.
July 18, 2016 – Larra was really excited about taking the bridge to Canada. Living in Surrey, British Columbia, she “crossed the line” to the US a couple times a month, to shop in Bellingham, Washington.
The difference is that it’s a land crossing there. Having to cross a bridge over a river was a unique experience to her. Add to that the idea of traveling south to go to Canada, instead of south to the US, was really unique.
So for Larra this was a big deal, as the plethora of photographs will testify.
Also known as, “Larra’s Ambassador Bridge Saga.” LOL
The old Wonder Bread bakery in Detroit, now a casino.
The Wonder Bread slogan was, “Helps build strong bodies 12 ways.”
It was white bread. They never listed the 12 ways.
Following the signs. Downtown Detroit.
There’s the bridge!
At one point the entrance circles under the bridge. All new since Jim was a kid.
The huge new approaches and incoming Customs spaces required tearing down blocks and blocks of Old Corktown, where Jim’s Dad grew up. It’s a different world.
Finally on the bridge.
Jim: You know, Larra, if they see you taking so many pictures, they’ll think we’re terrorists.
Larra: Just one more!
“Just one more!”
